i’m officially promoted…

just goes to show, good things happen to bad people.  i’m a liar, a cheat and a thief but i’ve found a niche where those traits are appreciated…

seriously though, a good friend was able to “pin” me.  this guy and i go back about 12 years and oddly enough, two of our last reunions have been here in afghanistan.  that’s been one of the great parts about this trip, i’ve been able to see him every couple of weeks.  what was weird about the promotion though, was that he took a few minutes to say some words about me.  he knows where alot of the skeletons are buried, but he still said some really, really nice things and kind of blew me away a little bit.  i don’t know why it’s so difficult for me to sit there while people say nice things about me, but painful as it was, i’m glad i got to hear them.  on the one hand i’m saying how much i hate to be complimented, but on the other, i once heard someone say that it’s really screwed up that we wait until someone dies to say great things about them in their eulogy.  what a difference that can make to take a step back and look at all the things going good in your life, and to see/hear about the impact you’ve had.  sometimes we don’t see the forest for the trees…

  1. Congratulations…I know you do deserve it.

  2. That’s because sometimes you’re patently clueless. Doesn’t change how I think about you. Congratulations on the promotion.

  3. Congrats! 🙂

  4. Liar, cheat, and a thief, are you? I knew there was a reason we get along.

    Congrats :o)
